Micha Patri started drumming at the age of 15 after hearing African drums in a world music course in high school. He discovered weekend drum gatherings at Aquatic Park in San Francisco, where some of Carlos Santana's first drummers were still playing, and got turned on to his first spontaneous "junk" drum circle at a protest against the 1st Iraq War under George Bush Sr.

He joined the high school jazz band, and in the summer of '92 Micha brought 'junk' drumming (making and playing drums with buckets and pipes and the like) immediately into the context of his teaching position at Summerbridge.

He took his first lessons with local bay area legends Alan Hall and Eddie Marshall.

Philosophy/Vision

Music is a tool to build sustainable community.
Music can be a healing force, and is the language of feelings, the language of the soul.
May my work and effort be for the benefit of all beings.
May all beings, without exception, be free from suffering; happy, joyous and free.
